About DBR

Greetings. My name is Trina, and I am the sole proprietor of DBR. I have always been an avid reader, but I strayed from my passion over time. The pandemic of 2020 provided an opportunity for me to rediscover my enjoyment of reading. I became engrossed in the works of various authors from around the world. Through social media, I discovered independent authors and new genres. After reading ARCs for some time, I progressed to Beta and Alpha reading. After hearing from several indie authors that their editors either quit or just delayed their projects, mainly within the Dark Romance realm, due to book content. I decided to refresh my knowledge of the writing process, as dark romance is my preferred reading genre. I completed a course that refreshed my understanding of grammar and writing styles. I was certified in the summer of 2025 and am currently working on my first major project with Author EM Dark. You can see samples of her current WIP in my portfolio section. I have worked with some other authors, but I have signed NDA's and am not allowed to discuss those at this moment in time.

What do you work on?

My primary genre is romance, with a focus on dark romance. Having been on many author teams, I’ve noticed that this area seems to be where they struggle most with both editors and proofreaders, based solely on book content. I will read almost any romance, although I am not a huge fan of fantasy. I am also a scaredy cat, so thrillers and horror are off the table.

How long does it take to proofread or edit a document?

How much are services with DRB?

Pricing depends on the manuscript word count; a non-refundable deposit will be required to hold your spot. The deposit will go towards the final total. The final invoice must be paid in full before the completed manuscript will be returned. Contact us to discuss your requirements and receive a customized quote.

What file formats do you accept for editing?

We accept various file formats, including Word, PDF, and Google Docs. If you have a specific format in mind, please let us know.

How do I verify work has been completed?

Before the final payment is made, I will arrange to send a specified number of pages showing completed work and notes.

What payment methods are accepted?

I will prearrange a specific venue with you, the client.
